Employee Spotlight: Controller, Chris Strand

A controller must be forward-looking. They must always be searching for ways to improve productivity, reduce costs, and streamline processes. They must also scale these processes to handle high growth. Chris has quickly become more than just the number crunching guy in the office. He has been a leader full of ideas with a great sense of humor to accompany it.

What brought you to A’Britin Catering?

Initially, an Ad on Indeed.com. Then a meeting with Jordan and Abby. Finally, a lunch with Seth, Dawn, and their son Kyle. At that point, I knew I had found my home.

What do you like about working at A’Britin?

The people! I still can’t get over how nice everyone is to each other. Second, the pop-up lunches.

What’s your favorite memory so far?

When I met with Seth and Dawn for my interview lunch at The Travelers, Seth paid with a credit card, I remember thinking, “Hopefully I will see the charge on the Amex bill next month” (meaning I had been hired). I had forgotten that thought until I actually did see the charge on the bill- that was a happy moment for me.

What are you most excited about in the future?

The growth potential. I really feel like we are going places. I haven’t felt that about my place of work in a long time.

What do you like to do outside of work for fun?

I like to hang out with my daughter no matter what we do. I like finding a great show and being embarrassed about how long I’ve been binging it. I like reading, playing golf, and exploring things to do in the cities.
