Reflections from a Catering Sales Team

Starting with This Little Piggy Catering in 1979, and followed by the acquisition of the brand by A’BriTin Catering & Hospitality in 2004, we’ve been in this business for a long time. Our sales team is extremely well-versed in event planning of all sizes. So, we thought we would do something just a bit different by highlighting our amazing sales team, and sharing their thoughts on their favorite events to date.

A wedding and vow renewal in one      

Jackie Kaelble

Jackie joined A’BriTin Catering & Hospitality in April 2018 and now serves as our venue director for Weddings at The Broz, located in New Prague, MN. “While I have been blessed to be a part of many magical ceremonies and receptions, the event this weekend was one of my most favorite,” she shared. “The ceremony fell on the date of the bride’s parent’s 50th wedding anniversary. So, not only was there a wedding, but the parents participated in a vow renewal as well. And, for the wedding itself, the ring exchange also included the daughters of the couple. It was just so beautiful to see the love amongst everyone in the family.” Décor for the event consisted of family heirlooms, the mother of the bride’s wedding gown from 1969 and lots of flowers from the local farmer’s market. The after-ceremony celebration was casual and included late night snack items including appetizer stations with walking tacos, woodfire pizza, and a sausage bar. Also served was a signature batch cocktail of blueberry lavender lemonade.

A venues’ first event

Olivia DeLanghe

Olivia joined our company in April 2018 and is now our exclusive representative for Belle’s Event Center in Belle Plaine, MN. “My favorite event was one we had just recently at Belle’s. We had over 360 guests on site, but we were able to get them through the buffet lines in under 25 minutes,” she reflected. “The day could not have gone better. This couple actually booked the venue when the site was still Emma Krumbee’s General Store. We all shared a vision of what was to come with the site renovation, and we were thrilled with how it turned out. The bride told me that she wouldn’t have changed a thing, and that is some of the best feedback we can ever receive.” Our This Little Piggy brand catered this event which helped with the fun yet fancy vibe that the venue was going for.

A tornado can’t keep us away

Cassie Pipo

Cassie joined A’BriTin Catering & Hospitality in January 2019. When asked about her favorite event she shared details of an event that took place at Red Barn Farm of Northfield, MN in early June 2019. Our Distinctive Catering brand served a buffet-style meal of salmon, butternut squash, wild rice, and other tantalizing dishes. “It was a very small, intimate event, but it was magical.” Red Barn Farm was devastated in late September 2018, and recently reopened. “It was amazing how well our team and the owners of the venue were able to partner to get the barn rebuilt and up and running. We still had some problem solving to do on the day of the event and our chefs needed to work in an unfamiliar space, but they really pulled it off,” Cassie said. In addition to the amazing entrees, Distinctive Catering also served delicious summertime caprese skewers, candied bacon, and the bruschetta. “We were so excited by how well the event went and we couldn’t believe how many people asked for business cards so that they could follow-up with us about their own special event.”

Eat more plants – an elegant and delectable all-vegetarian menu

Rachel Czarnecki

Rachel joined our staff in June 2019 and shared her thoughts on an event she attended during her first month with the company at Historic Hope Glen Farm in Cottage Grove, MN. “It was my first time at this venue, and I was wowed because our chefs were able to pull off a completely vegetarian menu from our Apples 2 Apples collection,” she shared. “The bride and groom were both vegetarian, and even though not all of their guests were, they wanted to create a decadent experience that shared their personal eating beliefs and also showed how delicious organic, locally sourced food could be. We served eggplant parmesan, roasted crispy cauliflower, mushroom and spinach ravioli, roasted carrots, and a blueberry spinach salad.”

For this unique event, the bride and groom made selections from our eco-friendly package and utilized compostable pressed palm leaf plates and compostable silverware. The bride and groom then took it up a notch and provided bio-degradable cups for the bar. Rachel further shared that “we created a very unique printed menu that spoke to the bride and groom’s history as vegetarians and why they had taken that path in life. It was a very unique opportunity for us because one of our specialties is meat.

A’BriTin Catering & Hospitality serves a 5-state area

Willie Nielsen

Willie joined the A’BriTin team in January 2019 and shared how much he loves that our team can cater in five different states – Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, North Dakota, and South Dakota. “One of my favorite events was one that took place at a casino in Watertown, South Dakota. It was a corporate event and it took us almost five hours to get there. There were 150 attendees and they had so much fun taking pictures of the pig, enjoying the decadent ice cream sundae bar, and more,” he shared. “This venue was literally in the middle of nowhere, but we didn’t care because it was just so much fun.”

Vanessa Busse

Vanessa joined A’BriTin Catering & Hospitality in November 2017 and is one of our senior-most sales representatives. “My favorite event took place in August 2018 at Legacy Hill Farm. The groom loved craft beer so we were able to source some of his favorites. At this particular event, we served a peanut butter milk stout and a fruit of the loop IPA. It was so much fun and I was excited to have the honor of serving as the event manager at the occasion,” she shared. This was a Thursday wedding with only 75 people, but they served a whole pig from This Little Piggy Catering, in addition to the macaroni and cheese (a favorite at almost all of our events), a vegetable tray, and seasonal fruit.
